What will you do for love? Will you suffer public humilation and endure embarassing situations? will you break down social barriers for the sake of someone you dearly love? Will you kneel down in supplification even you know you will be castigated by your peers foroing so?
When Jesus sent the Tweleve on a mission, He instructed them to go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel (Mt 10:16) They were to avoid pagan territories and Samaritan towns. In today's Gopspel, Jesus enter the region of Tyre and Sidon of in Phoenicia inhabited by pagans. Will He contradicted Himself by ministiring to the pagans? When approach by a native women, Jesus ignores her. In a society which live by code of honor and shame, Jesus reminds her that they are not of equal status: He is an Istraelite, she is a woman and a pagan. Mathew has already marked the distance by reffering to the woman as "Canaanite"
